Do not fear! The cafe is NOT inside the prison It is accessible to all civilians. There is an unmanned booth, just pass it and keep going. If you're following Google maps it will take you exactly there. There is plenty of parking. You will not find an actual looking restaurant. It is like a cafeteria inside the admin building. Do not be put off by this!! They have a great variety of food and amazing customer service. The owner took our order and was super helpful with all the questions we had about the place. He let us know of their many catering services, weekly specials and was overall super nice. They do have some items not listed, just ask and he's more than likely to accommodate. He let us know they change the menu up every 6 months or so which is awesome in my opinion. Donovans has been there for 35+ years. Food is very fresh and the place is immaculate. Will definitely be going back.

I have been coming to this place for nearly 10 years now. The food is always great! My favorite thing there is the TJ Hotdogs " when they are on special" and their patty melt. If you have any special requests; they are happy to accommodate them. The owner is always there and always has a big smile on his face. He is friendly, funny and makes me feel welcome. Happy to have a place like this in our back yard!

Love this place every time I visit. My favorite is the breakfast burrito. Every single item I have ordered has been delicious. I try and order different items every time I eat here. The service is great and the owner always makes you feel welcome. I really do love the nacho cheese fries with jalapeños, such a simple item with a great taste.

I love this place. They serve great food and they have great customer service. Will eat there again very soon.

Donovan's is great! The staff are great and The variety of food is perfect for any day or the week . I love the Greek chicken wrap and the backlava are great especially around the holidays .

Excellent food! Made to order. You can tell they take the time to make sure everything is great. The staff are wonderful and the service is great. Often they have special homemade treats that I can't resist:) Can't recommend this place more:)

Donovan's Cafe in San Diego really surprised us. During our 2 day visit to SAN DIEGO we happen to come across this establishment I was little worried about the quality but man was I wrong great food great service awesome staff with reasonable pricing I definitely recommend it

Just had lunch at the cafe and it blew me away. Not the type of place one expects to find such good food. I recommend their burgers and their pizzas !! Delicious. The cafe owner is almost always onsite and available, he greets folks with a smile and ensures consistent customer service. Definitely a place I'll return to.

I've been coming to Donovan's Cafe for over five years now and they have never failed to create great meals. I like that they have a variety of food that is offered for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Cafe is always clean and the staff are always friendly. I have even had the Cafe cater several events and they have always exceeded my expectations! Food is always fresh, coffee is always hot and Rock Stars are always cold! Keep up the great work Donovan's Cafe!
